About Us

financial services for Those Who Serve us!

DPS Federal Credit Union was founded in 1953 by seven Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) employees who recognized the benefits a credit union would provide to their coworkers and families. Intent on finding a way to provide affordable financial services for the varied needs of the uniformed Highway Patrol and civilian DPS employees; they pooled their personal resources together and applied for a credit union charter. The National Credit Union Administration granted the charter in September of 1953, and DPS FCU was formed.

In September of 1957, the credit union's Field of Membership (who can join the credit union) was expanded to include the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The charter was revised again in 1998, 1999, 2005 and 2008 to include the additional employee groups now in our Field of Membership.

Our credit union is a full-service, "not for profit" financial institution; dedicated to providing exemplary service and financial solutions to our members at the lowest possible cost. Our mission is to is to provide safety, security and exceptional service for our members financial needs. Oversight of the credit union's operations is provided by seven unpaid, volunteer Board members; who represent an equitable cross section of uniformed and civilian employees from the various law enforcement agencies served by our credit union.
